Regulations for Pentecost Ember Friday
The following regulations concerning fasting and abstinence are to be observed on Pentecost Ember Friday:

Complete Abstinence (Applicable to all persons over seven years of age):
- Pentecost Ember Friday, being a Friday, is a day of complete abstinence.
- On such days, meat, and soup or gravy made from meat, may not be used at all.

Fast (Applicable to all persons over 21 and under 59 years of age):
- Pentecost Ember Friday is a designated fast day.
- Those bound by the law of fast must adhere to the following:
- Only one full meal is permitted. (This meal must be meatless due to the complete abstinence rule).
- Two other meatless meals may be taken, sufficient to maintain strength, provided that together they do not equal another full meal.
- Meat may NOT be taken at the principal meal on this day, as it is a Friday.
- Eating between meals is not permitted. Liquids, including milk and fruit juices, are allowed.
General Provision:
- When health or the ability to work would be seriously affected, the law does not oblige. In cases of doubt concerning fast or abstinence, a parish priest or confessor should be consulted.
